Fur farming has been a significant industry in Nova Scotia for centuries and is one of the oldest and most historically significant industries in Canada's.
Nova Scotia's fur industry is comprised of three main sectors: mink, fox and chinchilla. The "Black Mink" was actually developed in Digby County in the '50's and today can be found at mink farms around the world.
Today, mink pelts are Nova Scotia’s biggest agricultural export, valued at nearly $150 million a year.
The Cabot Trail Ranch is located in Breton Cove and has been run by the MacInnis family for generations.
