Few things stand out in a child's memory like summer camp. For many children in Nova Scotia with chronic illness, summer camp used to be something that they simply couldn't take part in. That all came to a glorious end when the lifelong dream of Dave McKeage, Brigadoon Village's founder, opened the facility in 2011.
The transformational effect of a camping experience is life-altering. For children and youth with a chronic illness or a chronic condition, opportunities for self-discovery can be limited by definitions of disease, treatments, conditions, and stereotypes. Brigadoon Village is a place where campers come to experience new things, meet friends who are facing similar challenges, and to just be themselves.
Lost Cod is very pleased to provide this collection on behalf of Brigadoon Village with a substantial portion of the proceeds being directed back to Brigadoon to help fund their ongoing operations.
